White Sea…
Introducing a project, that I hope you’ll love as much as I did! I was sold on it even before I actually heard it, because it’s associated with M83, a French electronic/ambient group that I love looove very much and have been a fan for a while, so I knew White Sea is going to be fantastic – I was right!
White Sea is a solo project of Morgan Kibby, L.A based brilliant singer-songwriter. She has had various musical projects, including fronting the LA based indie band The Romanovs.
Morgan also provided keys and arrangements for M83 on their fifth full-length release, Saturdays – Youth, and co-wrote the songs “Kim & Jessie”, “Up!”, “Too Late” and “Skin of the Night”. Morgan toured with M83 for a while and contributed to M83‘s sixth full-length album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming; providing vocals, keyboards, and arrangements. She co-wrote the songs Intro, Midnight City and Reunion. Midnight City was my one song on repeat for quite a while, and I’m still same excited hearing it every single time even though I know it note by note!
The first track I heard of her solo project was “Overdrawn” and I immediately fell in love. It was uplifting, fun and the vocals are simply dreamy, you can’t stop yourself from singing along. After her EP This Frontier (October 5, 2010), Kibby has focused on remixing tracks for other artists including School of Seven Bells, Seven Saturdays, Lord Huron, Junip, The Naked and Famous, Britney Spears, The Japanese Popstars feat. James Vincent McMorrow, Active Child, Manchester Orchestra, Kevin Devine and The Serenades. Almost all above (definitely except Britney) are also on my very much beloved music list.
Recently Morgan came back to my attention and my playlist with her newest track called “They don’t know”, and it’s fantastic – you all just don’t know it yet! Her remixes are simply maaaad, she even made me like Britney’s song and that says a lot! Her style resembles a bit such incredible artist like Florence And The Machine and SIA, so – check this genius artist out and enjoy the beautiful, out of this world music=)
