Instant Lab…

instant lab

Wow, this project not so long ago seemed to be just a “wishful thinking”, but apparently nowadays, really nothing is impossible, specially with programs like Kickstarter, which help brave and futuristic projects become reality. I am super excited about it and I couldn’t not to share, even though it might be a bit later than it could have been shared.

“Transform your digital iPhone images into real instant photographs that you can touch, caress and share with friends…”

That’s what Instant Lab by Impossible does. The Impossible Instant Lab is an innovative tool that turns digital iPhone images into real analog instant photos on Impossible film, using an accompanying Impossible iPhone app.

Impossible was founded by Dr. Florian Kaps, André Bosman and Christian Lutz. The company started with a small team of the very best 10 former Polaroid employees who shared passion as well as the belief in Impossible dream. Every single one of them has a long time of expertise in the field of instant film production – more than 500 years accumulated experience and knowledge. The Impossible Project currently employs 25 people in the factory in Enschede.

In October 2008 The Impossible Project saved the last Polaroid production plant for integral instant film and in 2010 Impossible saved analog instant photography from extinction by releasing various, brand new and unique instant films.

Florian Kaps, Co-founder of Impossible says

The Instant Lab is the Impossible solution to a problem that we were trying to solve since a very long time: Is there an easy and pure analog way to melt our everyday’s iPhone images into these unique, real and magic photographs we love so much?

The way it feels to finally merge the digital with the analog world of photography with this Impossible machine exceeds our wildest expectations…

To get the funding for this wild idea of theirs, they started a Kickstarter project, which I like so much. I have already supported quite few artist on it and have seen how it helped them achieve their dreams and goals. It’s fantastic that it also helped for this project to become real. The Kickstarter lasted from September 10  till October 8 and it collected double the set goal! Obviously this “impossible” idea, seemed too attractive not to test out. The production of Instant Lab is already in process and is expected to be presented to the market in early 2013.

If you’re excited about it and don’t want to miss out on anything, you can subscribe here to a newsletter. I personally am super excited as it combines my to most enjoyable things! I love vintage photography and grew up with Polaroid constantly in my hands, now iPhone is the most convenient and always accessible image capturing source, so it’s amazing that I will be able to get the pictures printed out on the go and in my favorite format. This product is even more exciting considering we also have Instagram! perfect Hipsters Photography full Kit =)
