René Mambembe and his Helvetica heroes…

Well, Helvetica is a font that recently celebrated it’s 50 years anniversary in 2007 and is basics of all type fonts. To show the appreciation to this simple but beautiful font even a movie was released.

The movie called Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. Helveticahas been shown at over 200 film festivals, museums, design conferences, and cinemas worldwide, and is now available on DVD.

You can find out more about the movie on their website.

One French graphic student, René Mambembe, decided to pay his respects to Helvetica font and to comics, by creating  a series of A to Z posters featuring Superheroes in Helvetica font. Mambembe has assigned each letter in the alphabet to a superhero or a well-known character. The designs incorporate classic details from each character, that makes it fun and easy figuring out what is portrayed.

You can find Rene on Behance page.

And here’s the collection, enjoy! I thought it’s brilliant=)

Sincerely,

S.
